I’ve disabled hotlinking because I see no reason to pay for bandwidth used on other sites, especially free sites such as MySpace. If you want to display an image from the Snake Hole link to the page containing the image or contact me if you feel a free exception should be made (eg search engines) for your site or a site you have visited, do not link to the image itself unless you have permission. If you do, you’ll get the following message:

Normally I’m not one to support on-line petitions so I’ll tell you about the last two government’ stances on internet censorship.

The previous government(the Howard Government) believed that censoring the internet was inefficient, unnecessary and that people should be able to choose what web sites they want to visit and the police are doing a fine job at catching on-line criminals and sex offenders. To satisfy families they provided free copies of internet filtration software to anyone who applied allowing families to feel safer for their children and people who are interested in more mature content can enjoy their freedom.

The current government(the Rudd government) abandoned the filter program and plan to replace it with a mandatory filter, not unlike China. Whilst I hate sites that cater to sick and perverted people I believe the police remain the answer to that and am appalled by the allegation made by members of this government that anyone who opposes internet censorship supports child pornography, rape and other acts of sexual violence in the past.

At this time there are just over 100,000 signatures and we could always do with more.

Have you ever wanted to add a search engine to Opera or Chrome and don’t know how?

Adding a search engine to these two programs is very similar, so similar they can even use the same syntax (Opera has more advanced capabilities). In this tutorial we will be adding a Newgrounds Portal search engine and the Google Images search engine.

Whenever you see an instruction titled after a browser it means the directions will vary between browsers.

The first thing you need to do is to find the search engine manager. . .

In Chrome:
Click the wrench icon and make sure you’re in the Basics tab. Then, click the Manage button in the Default Search section.

The window that pops up allows you manage the search engines that Chrome has picked up on your adventures and includes an Add button. Click the Add button now to see the screen we will be working in.

In Opera:
Go to Tools > Preferences and make sure you’re in the Search tab. Here you can manage your search engines and assign keywords to make life easier. Clicking the Add button will bring you to the window we will be working in. I had to click Details to the stuff below it.

In Opera, you can also right-click a text box and go to Create Search then click details to see if it needs cleaning up. Opera will attempt to create an address but the generated one may not always work or be what you expected.

Adding Newgrounds Portal Search:

Now, as I have said the before the syntax is very similar. This means that for this tutorial the entry to URL field for Chrome and the Address field for Opera are going to be exactly the same and makes is easy if you ever switch browsers.

In order to find the Newgrounds Portal search I simply browsed to Newgrounds and searched for a few things. From the address I figured out that http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/search/title/ is the part that stays the same and the part following that are the keywords, which we’ll replace with %s.

%s stands for search terms, and will be replaced by whatever you search for so it’s important to put in the right place.

To add this search, simply name it “Newgrounds Flash Portal” and add a keyword. Then enter http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/search/title/%s into the URL/Address field.

You now have the Newgrounds Flash Portal Search engine integrated into your browser.

Google Images:

Following the same process (this time I used several ‘a’s for the search term), I found it easy to add Google Images. In Google Images the search terms are not at the end, but in the middle.

This shows that search engines do use their own patterns and so I replaced my several ‘a’s with %s, creating this address for the search:

http://images.google.com/images?q=%s&btnG=Search+Images

The next page will show some of the search engines I have added to Opera or Chrome including all the Newgrounds search engines.

A simple script that brings you back to the post your editing after a common cause of “Page not found” errors when the update button is clicked.

This script runs specifically when a certain phrase such as “Page not found” occurs in the title of the page after you edit the post.

This is case-sensitive and if it doesn’t work for your error page you may have to set it up by using the WP Update Post Afterthought set to page title. option from the Greasemonkey User Script Commands Menu. This option will appear on the error page and the dashboard home page.

[Get it here].

I once met a man who wasn’t a man and It made me think.
Am I really a man?
“Find out if you can?” said the man who wasn’t a man.
Is he pulling my leg? I thought, realizing that if it was translated to German it could also mean is he pulling my dick.

Balls Braised in a Ballistic Bubble, the tangent continues.

Fermented with hops and yeast would make a manly drink, if I were really a man.
Is a woman a man? Or a man the bitter end to a woman?
“It seems to be the case on Newgrounds” the forum replied.
“There a no women here, or men. Just the ‘ers ”
That made sense, like an eye gouging a knife.

I better eat my veggies before nutrition dies within me,
or makes a great escape to the toilet.

Oh, it seems my poo is green, is that a manly colour?
I finish wiping the toilet with my finger after reclaiming my lost nutrition.
“Hello” the voice inside me said.
Hello, the voice I made replied.

Am I a man?
“No, you are a munchkin!”
I’m a little tall to be a midget don’t you think?
“Cut your legs off!”

“This chain of events will lead to a chainsaw removing your legs”, the tangent replies, not realizing that it’s words are always tangible.

Am I a midget?
“You’re an animal!”
“You left your tail!”
“Cut it off!”
the voice said in German.

I drank my ballistic brew, to entice nutrition back into the holes where all three legs once protruded.

As I lay on the ground nearing unconsciousness I ask,
Am I man?
Was this all an elaborate trick?

“I was joking!”, replied the voice inside.
